The Manifesto

After the Golden Age, here is the dawning of a new era.

Facili allo snobismo per partito perso.

This is not another pop blog, we're not old style we're not futuristic we're just acrylic and always up for a nice cup of tea.

Le AA hanno tutte nel loro passato un certo interesse disinteressato per quella band di sfatti chic, sì dai loro, i Libertines. Non sono abbastanza sconosciuti per voi snobbers? Poco ci importa. A voi:
CARL BARATwww.myspace.com/carlbarat www.twitter.com/carlbaratmusic                   Dear all Firstly may I wish you all well and thank you for your patience over the last few months. During this time I have been mightily busy compiling an album for your pleasure, which I very much hope you will love as I do. It seems to have been quite a while since we were last together, it will be splendid to be on the road again and for the first time on my own. The album is different to say the least… so expect the unexpected (within reason). Please look out for my new tracks that I will be posting online imminently and with trepidation I look forward to your reactions. I haven’t been totally lazy in this extended break; I have worked on a film with my good friend Mark Donne (‘The Rime Of The Modern Mariner’) which will be touring the film festivals this year. I also did a stretch in the theatre earlier in the year and wrote a couple of tracks for Russell Brand’s new film ‘Get Him To The Greek’. Amid this self imposed exile I have also been working on a book of memoirs that I trust will tickle your curiosity if not simply stand to amuse you and invoke laughter, tears and torment (not necessarily in that order). Obviously there is the small matter of a few Libertines shows in August too. It has been a heart warming experience being back with those fellas again and those shows are going to be something special. I very much hope to see you all when my tour kicks off in October, where I will be playing a mix of new and old tunes. Keep checking my sites for details of all shows but the first few are below and on sale tomorrow. I will be adding a very special set of French dates and some shows in Italy too but those wont be anounced for a little while. I expect the album and book to be released in October, post Libertines and pre headline dates. In the meantime I have set up a twitter twitter.com/carlbaratmusic and renamed this myspace.com/carlbarat in order to keep everyone updated with what I’m doing. There will also be a brand new website coming very soon and I will be sending a little prezzie out to everyone on the mailing list.
